“The mind feeds on ideas, and therefore children should have a generous curriculum.” Charlotte Mason

If, like me in my earlier homeschooling days, you’ve felt intimidated by the Charlotte Mason’s original Homeschooling series and have never quite picked it up and made an attempt to dive in yourself, then this is for you!

Throughout this year I plan to read through volume 1 again and read it aloud onto my soundcloud account; this way I have an incentive to slowly read through this wonderful work and I get to share it with you.

You can follow me on soundcloud or I will post it here on the blog, once or twice a week. The readings will be in 15 or 20 minute chunks so you can pop it on whilst washing the dishes, folding laundry or simply drinking coffee and reading along!.

Each reading will be raw and unedited (only 1 take) as if I was sat in your living room, so please excuse any mispronunciations or my stumbling over words.

I encourage you to journal, take notes or create your own commonplace book as a form of narration as we go through the book; let’s use Charlotte’s methods for our own learning. Let me know in the comments if you’re following along.

Thought breeds thought; children familiar with great thoughts take as naturally to thinking for themselves as the well-nourished body takes to growing; and we must bear in mind that growth, physical, intellectual, moral, spiritual, is the sole end of education – Charlotte Mason
